     “The Immaculate Conception of the Mother of our Redeemer is as ancient as the mystery of the Redemption. It forms a component part of that grand scheme of human reparation disposed before the ages in the all-conceiving mind of Eternal Wisdom.” Over the centuries, the Fathers and the Doctors of the Church spoke often about the absolute purity of the Blessed Mother and of her position as the second Eve. In the Constitution Ineffabilis Deus of December 8, 1854, Pope Pius IX pronounced and defined that the Blessed Virgin Mary “in the first instance of her conception, by a singular privilege and grace granted by God, in view of the merits of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the human race, was preserved exempt from all stain of original sin.”

 

     In past ages, faith in this great grace of Mary blossomed into the light out of the great heart of the Church in prayers, devotions, and feasts, which God answered through graces, protections, and miracles. Today we continue to pray to our Blessed Mother for her intercession in answering our prayers for ourselves and for our loved ones. With confidence we approach our Blessed Mother on this her most solemn feast and present her with our needs, our prayers and our devotion.
